Fill-in Forms

If you have Acrobat Reader, you can fill in a form provided it has been made "fillable". Just move the cursor over the form and it will turn into an "I-beam" where you can type.

2. If you have the full Acrobat product ($249) you can add text to any PDF file which is not protected.

All Forms are Not Fillable

A form is fillable if the creator of the form prepared it that way, using Acrobat. For comparison, here are two PDF files of an ever popular U.S. tax form:

To view an ordinary PDF, not fillable click here.

To view a fillable version of the same PDF click here

The only way to tell if you can fill in a form is to try it.  If you can't fill in the second file above, your copy of Acrobat Reader is either too old or broken.  Click here to download that latest version of Adobe Acrobat for free.
